    GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

    To perform routine analyses in support of pharmacokinetics and drug metabolism studies in drug discovery. To analyze the data, prepare final reports and present data to project team. To assume a project representative role for university and sponsor based collaborations.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Responsibilities include sample preparation and analysis for in vitro drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics studies, including broad experience with biological sample preparation and extraction, development and validation of LC-MS/MS based assays, and pharmacokinetic parameter analyses. The ideal candidate should demonstrate problem solving skills, inclusive of the ability to identify alternate solutions and project the consequences of proposed activities, with implementation of novel methodologies, procedures, or techniques for resolution of scientific and project issues. Experience performing in vitro drug metabolism assays (e.g. metabolic stability, protein binding, Caco-2 cell permeability) is desirable. DMPK project representation experience is a plus. The ideal candidate will represent in-house bioanalytical expertise, and interface with internal research teams and outside collaborators as needed.

    SUPPLEMENTAL RESPONSIBILITIES

    The ability to work as a key member of a highly interactive and cross-functional team is critical. The ability to exercise judgment with respect to selection of appropriate sample preparation and bioanalytical methods and techniques to obtain consistent, timely, and robust results is a key driver for success in this position.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    Knowledge of LC-MS/MS equipment operation and data system software is required. Experience with pharmacokinetics analysis and modeling software is highly desirable. Requires demonstrated success in technical proficiency in the laboratory, scientific creativity, collaboration with others, and independent thought. Expert knowledge of scientific principles and concepts. Reputation for sustained performance accomplishments.

    OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:

    Requires a BS in chemistry, biology, or a related discipline with 5+ years experience, or an MS with 3+ years experience in a pharmaceutical research and/or development environment.

    Local candidates are preferred as relocation assistance is not available for this position.
