    GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

    To design, validate, implement and conduct pre-clinical screening assays for support of investigational new drug (IND) candidates. To analyze the data, prepare final reports and present data to project team. To assume a project leadership role for university based collaborations.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Responsibilities include biochemical assay development, validation and implementation to support the screening activities essential for drug discovery. Broad-based experience across multiple assay platforms including colorimetric, fluorescent and radioactive enzyme assays, ligand binding assays, (DELFIA, FRET, Fluorescent polarization) is required. Experience in target evaluation and selection is a plus. The ideal candidate will establish in-house expertise; interface with internal research groups and will provide the necessary leadership on appropriate leadership teams.

    OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
    Requires a PhD in biochemistry, molecular biology or a related discipline with 12+ years experience in a pharmaceutical research and/or development environment. Some team or project leader experience required.
