GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
Candidate will conduct molecular and cell biology studies focused on the validation of new drug targets across multiple therapeutic areas.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Develop cell-based assays to be used in target validation studies and/or medium throughput screening campaigns.
• Perform knock-down experiments and functional assays to establish the role of a gene in metabolism and biology of cancer cells
• Work independently and efficiently
• Document work clearly and perform tests accurately
• Perform day to day instrument maintenance and trouble-shooting
• Communicate effectively with staff members; communicate results effectively in presentation and written reports
The ideal candidate would possess:
• Experience in cell and molecular biology techniques including nucleic acid purification, DNA cloning, PCR, gel electrophoresis, Western blotting, and the use of RNA interference.
• Experience in flow cytometry and in vitro assays for apoptosis, proliferation, invasion and soft agar colony formation.
• Strong computer, scientific, and organizational skills
• Excellent communication (oral and written) and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, self-motivation, adaptability, and a positive attitude
• Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, keep accurate records, follow instructions, and comply with company policies
SUPPLEMENTAL RESPONSIBILITIES
To navigate complex scientific endeavors in which data analysis and problem solving is critical. The ability to exercise judgment with respect to selection of appropriate methods and techniques to obtain consistent, robust results is a key driver for success in this position.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Requires demonstrated success in technical proficiency, scientific creativity, collaboration with others and independent thought. Expert knowledge of scientific principles and concepts. Reputation for sustained performance accomplishments. Scientific acumen as demonstrated through presentations and publications. Experience in cancer cell biology is a plus.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in pharmacology, biochemistry, or related science and 6-8 years related laboratory experience
• Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship
